The Rover Scout was created in 1991 when Automotive Development Consultants (ADC) decided to make 6 multipurpose, multi-utility, metro-based vehicles to fulfil the needs for adventure and outdoor enthusiasts.
Rover did not commission the Scout, it was conceived and built by ADC as a showcase of the concept, design and build capabilities for the Automotive Engineering Show at the NEC. The original idea was a possible evolution of the Metro range with more space, more utility and easier entry-exit to the back seats.
The standard Metro was modified with a taller roof, a higher rear hatch and taller side windows. Rover were interested enough to provide ADC with a donor car, however not enough for them to pursue the project.
The little scout definitely generates a talking point and will be a standout vehicle in any collection.
