Not many Series 1 Rovers are available at any time, and very rarely one in such good order. Recently under the care of the ex-Editor of the P6 Rover owners club, it has been lovingly re-commissioned and brought up to the standard we see it in today. Much good work done has been done during by the various custodians since it was laid up in the late 1980s.
We are advised that the Rover is fitted with two extra period switches beside the rear window heater switch with period cloth covered wiring, though there is no obvious explanation for their use.
On the road, the Rover performs very well indeed with a smooth power delivery from the capable V8 power unit. Quite evidentially well prepared by people who know these cars, the P6 belies its 50 plus years with a very good ride, brakes and handling. The Sandalwood leather interior is original and without any rips and shows signs of usage but not abuse. Pleasing to see that an original Rover radio blanking plate is fitted with no signs of any audio system being installed; why would you with a V8 as your soundtrack.
A great car to cruise the roads of the UK and further afield when conditions permit.
These superb cars are still greatly undervalued , though really nice examples are now very sought after and values are rising rapidly so best to get one while you still can before they get out of reach
